Little John was said to have been born in Hathersage, and a long grave in the churchyard of the Church of St Michael is reputed to be his. In a short Pathe News silent film clip from 1928, The Ancient Order of Foresters pay their respects with an annual pilgrimage to the site. In 1994 over 1,000 of them would make this same trip.
